State Bank of India is the largest bank in India. It is in the list of top five banks in Asia which is the reason SBI holds its separate Common Written Examination for various posts such as SBI Clerk, SBI Probationary Officer and SBI Specialist Officer. Every year these exams are held on All India basis and have more competition than other bank exams. SBI believes in hard work and performance to give promotion avenues to its employees. SBI Clerk is the most preferred exam by the candidates aspiring for bank jobs. It has more vacancies as compared to Probationary Officers and Specialist Officers.

Career Growth and Prospects in SBI Clerk 2018

State Bank of India is the largest bank and thus needs hardworking and dedicated staff to accomplish the work effectively. The better the performance better are the prospects for growth in SBI. Candidates who will crack SBI Clerk 2018 be under probation period for six months.

SBI Clerk will be promoted to Senior Assistant after completing ten years of service as a clerk. The next promotion will be due when he or she completes twenty years of service to the post of Special Assistant. Further who completes thirty years as a clerk will be promoted to Senior Special Assistant.
Various levels of Promotions for SBI Clerk to Officer Cadre:
  1. Promotion as a Trainee Officer:
SBI Clerk will be promoted as a Trainee Office when he or she completes three years of services as a Clerk. This promotion will be given after conducting a written test and interview of the candidate. The Trainee Officer will be promoted to the Middle management with a Grade Scale II.
  1. Promoted directly to JMGS I:
When SBI Clerk completes six years of service under fast track channel promotion is given or after the service of twelve years under normal promotion channel a clerk can be promoted to Junior Manager Grade Scale. The promotion of JMGS I officer is only given after he or she cracks departmental written test and interview. This post has an upper age limit. Clerk retires as General Manager in State Bank of India which is not usually possible in any other nationalized bank.
Comparison between IBPS Clerk and SBI Clerk: 
SBI exams are tougher than IBPS exams for it being the largest bank of India. If one has to choose between SBI CLERK EXAM and IBPS CLERK EXAM, then IBPS is easy. It is easier to crack IBPS Clerk exam where one gets the appointed in any of the twenty nationalized banks listed under IBPS. SBI has lot of transparency than other banks.  As a career option both SBI Clerk and IBPS Clerk offer a good career for the lifetime.
