English section is a hard nut to crack in Bank exams
Recent IBPS Prelims Examination held on 9th December 2017 it has been observed that English Section has taken the tool and given a harsh experience to the students. According to the analysis taken with the help of students who appeared in this slot faced difficulty in attempting most of the English section questions.
Analysis of English Language Section:
This section had questions which were from moderate to difficult level. Vocabulary gave a real shock as it was difficult, it had some new idioms and phrases. Fill in the blanks with double blanks and sentence rearrangement questions were easy. Sentence rearrangement had a new pattern based questions where the students were asked to rearrange the parts of sentences to make it meaningful.
Table of question-wise analysis is given below:
Topics | No. of Question | Level |
Reading Comprehension | 5 | Moderate-Difficult |
Double Fillers | 10 | Moderate |
Idioms/ Phrases | 10 | Difficult |
Sentence Rearrangement (New Pattern) | 5 | Moderate-Difficult |
Total | 30 | Moderate-Difficult |
It is a lesson for those who think that English is only a last minute subject. Language cannot be learned in a day, it needs practice and thorough knowledge of grammar rules. It helps to understand the sentence or the script given for the test. Even though the candidates who are taking bank coaching classes in Jalandhar or elsewhere do not attend English class with dedication and motivation to learn.
With this analysis it is highly recommended to take all the sections seriously especially English as examiners have raised the difficulty level. Now it demands more practice and hard work to enhance comprehension skills of English Language.
Comprehension skills means to understand the sentence or the passage given for the exercise. It does not only mean to attempt Reading Comprehension Question. The actual language ability is tested in Reading comprehension which is the most ignored topic of the students. It is considered as boring and time wasting question but that is the most scoring if you are well versed with the language ethics and usage.
Therefore, those who are planning to appear in the next IBPS Exam 2018 or any other bank exam should not ignore English Language and keep it for the last minute preparation.
One can manage to get the sectional cut-off marks easily but now it is a hard nut to crack so better pull up your socks and give equal weight- age to English language while preparing for the bank exams.
Wish you good luck!!!!
