Reserve Bank of India is the king of all the banks, popularly known as BANKER’S BANK. Working in King’s palace is worth a prize even if you are at a lower cadre. It is very much true when it comes to choosing a job between IBPS PO and RBI Assistant. It has been observed that most of the people prefer RBI Assistant job over PO in any nationalized bank for it being a clerical job. The salary is also less as compared to other nationalized banks. RBI transfers their employees after every 5 year where as other banks P.Os are transferred after every three years. It is a breather for a person because three years is an early period to transfer.

It is observed that mostly RBI post their employees in urban areas but other nationalized banks usually post their employees in rural areas.
  1. Work strain:
RBI has less strain in their job profile where as public sector banks have lot of work pressure.
  1. Number of Working Days and Timings:
RBI works 5 days a week whereas public sector banks work for six days in a week. Working time in RBI is from 9.15 AM to 5.15 but in other banks PO cannot leave the office till he clears his table for the day.

RBI Assistant’s Salary, pay scale, perks and allowances

The Basic pay is Rs. 8,860/- per month (i.e. Rs. 8,040/- with two advance increments (only for the graduates). Pay scale follows the following break up:
  1. Pay scale: Rs. 8,040 – 410 – 9270 – 500 – 11,270 – 550 – 13,470 – 650 – 15,420 – 720 – 16,140 – 990 – 20,100 (20 years)
  2. Allowances Offered:
The allowances offered are Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as permissible from time to time.
  1. Gross Salary: Approximately Rs. 24,429/- per month
  2. Accommodation: Subject to accessibility.
  3. Reimbursements: One can avail for the expenses incurred in the maintenance of vehicle for official purpose, newspaper, brief case, book Grant, allowance for furnishing of residence, etc. as per eligibility.
  4. Dispensary facilities: Besides getting reimbursement of medical expenses for OPD treatment/hospitalization as per eligibility) RBI assistants is also entitled for certain dispensary facilities.
  5. Loans and Advances: Loans are granted at concessional rates of interest for Housing, Car, Education, Consumer Articles, and Personal Computer.
  6. Governance: RBI Assistants are entitled for the Defined Contribution New Pension Scheme, in addition to the benefits of Gratuity
  7. Total Annual Pay: Total annual pay includes allowances along with admissible benefits attached to the post of RBI Assistant (excluding value of housing) works out at the minimum to Rs. 3, 20,000/- p.a. (approximately).
