Why aspirants of bank exams fail to qualify in the first attempt?

Every year more than 15-20 lakhs of aspirants are participating in the competitive job exams held for bank jobs but only a few are able to qualify them. There are some who are failing in the repeated attempts too. It is generally observed that the bank examinations conducted by IBPS and SBI for different posts have a difficulty level and thus candidates are not able to crack it easily. Candidates are increasing every year and so does the failures irrespective of putting hard work and dedication while preparing for the exam.

The reason for the failure in bank examination is generally due to lack of knowledge and practice. It can be improvised by taking bank coaching classes in Jalandhar or city nearby your residing area. These exams need professional training and guidance which calls for a perfect coaching for the subjects being examined in the exams like IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, SBI PO or SBI Clerk and such like posts in banking sector.

Even after cracking written examination candidates are not able to clear the interview due to lack of knowledge and understanding. Therefore coaching plays a vital role in understanding the exam pattern and syllabus of various bank exams. Another limiting factor is sectional cut-off which means that candidates should prepare thoroughly so that you can individually score well in all the sections of the bank exams.

Let us discuss some important reasons why candidates fail to clear the bank exam so that one can take care of the score.
  1. Not familiar with the latest exam pattern and syllabus:
In the recent years it has been observed that bank exam pattern and syllabus change frequently. Tier 1 and Tier II have been introduced as prelims and mains. These are major changes which every aspirant should know but they ignore thus their preparation become aimless. One can overcome this by solving previous year question papers to understand the pattern and important topics which are frequently asked in the exam.
  1. Ignorant about the tough competition:
Aspirants of bank jobs take the examination casually without knowing much about the competition. Competition is tough as the aspirants are more and vacancies are less. Those who know about the competition work hard towards their target and they are very less in number. Therefore, most of the candidates face failure. This can be overcome by solving mock tests to understand the nature of competition and how to deal with it effectively.
  1. Not solving previous year Exam papers and cutoffs:
When a candidate is not aware of the previous year questions and cutoffs they cannot judge their performance in accordance with the requirement of the examination. It is a must thing to know about as it helps the candidates to target the score. Overall cut-offs also helps in improving the learning and understanding to enhance the targeted line.
  1. Not practicing in online mode during exam preparation:There are many students who are not familiar with online mode of examination. They face lot of technical problems while attempting the question paper and fail to successfully complete the question paper in time. They are not able to switch or scan from one section to another which leads to unnecessary delay in attempting the paper. It is highly recommended to practice mock test in online mode during exam preparation period.
  2. Erroneous guess-work:
There is a habit of attempting all the questions in a question paper right from the school time. But this fails in the competitive exams because simple guess work in the attempt to give answers to all the questions sometimes gives a wrong answer. For every wrong answer there is a penalty of 0.25 marks.  Therefore avoid doing a guess work while answering.
  1. Exam nervousness:
Competitive exams have limited time to attempt the question paper which gives lot of tension to the candidates. In order to avoid last minute exam fever or nervousness it is better to practice speed tests in all the topics involving calculations. It will enhance confidence level and satisfaction before entering into the examination hall.

Hope these tips will help you score well in the IBPS PO or IBPS Clerk exam, whichever you are planning to opt in the coming year. All the best and keep your spirits high and be focused while preparing for the exam.
